Readers Crown the Heard Museum as Arizona’s Most ‘Uniquely Arizona’ Destination

Phoenix has spoken — and the winner is a treasure right in the heart of the city. Readers of The Arizona Republic have named the Heard Museum the most “uniquely Arizona” destination in the state, in a special museum poll celebrating places that can only be found in Arizona.

The Heard triumphed in a tough final round against beloved Arizona staples, including the Sigler Western Museum, Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. It is easy to see why readers fell in love: for generations, the Heard has connected the community with Indigenous creativity, presenting the voice and vision of American Indian artists through world-class exhibitions.

Beyond its galleries, the museum pulses with community programming all year long, from the electrifying National Hoop Dance Competition to the celebrated Indian Fair & Market. It is a place where art, culture, and celebration come together — and now it officially carries the title of Arizona’s most one-of-a-kind museum, chosen by the people who know it best.

Congratulations to the Heard Museum — Phoenix’s pride, and Arizona’s unmistakable gem.
