The Desert Botanical Garden Throws Its Biggest Plant Sale Ever for 50 Years

The Desert Botanical Garden is throwing itself a very green birthday party: to mark the 50th anniversary of its beloved Plant Sale, the Garden is bringing it all together in one expanded five-day fall event — the Garden’s only Plant Sale of the year — running October 22 through 26.

Timed perfectly for Arizona’s fall planting season, the sale features an exceptional selection of desert-adapted plants: natives, cactus, agaves, succulents, trees, shrubs, herbs and vegetables, plus seasonal décor. This year’s debut attraction is the new Landscape Legends Collection, with Garden-propagated plants inspired by the Heritage Garden and hard-to-find desert favorites like Desert Plumbago, Barbados Cherry, Yuca Vine, Sacred Datura and California Fuschia.

Visitors can explore the Harvest Market with vegetables, herbs, seasonal annuals, pumpkins and exclusive Garden-designed hanging baskets, and meet Garden horticultural experts to get free landscape advice — because cooler fall temperatures are the ideal moment to plant the shade canopy of the future.

The celebration kicks off Thursday, October 22, with a Member VIP Shopping Experience from 7 to 10 a.m. ($29.95, with a limited-edition 50th anniversary bandana and sticker), followed by Member Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From October 23 to 26, the sale opens to the general public from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. — completely free, with no tickets or reservations required. Fifty years, five days, one extraordinary plant sale. Happy planting, Phoenix!
