The greatest love story ever told is coming to life on the Symphony Hall stage this October. Ballet Arizona opens its landmark 40th anniversary season with Romeo & Juliet, running October 22–25, 2026, and it promises to be one of the most breathtaking openings in the company’s history.
Celebrated as one of Artistic Director Ib Andersen’s greatest works, this stunning production captures the full emotional sweep of Shakespeare’s tale — from the first spark of young romance to fate’s final twist. Every performance is elevated by Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic score, played live by The Phoenix Symphony, giving audiences the rare thrill of hearing the music breathe alongside the dancers.
With six performances across four days — including matinees on Saturday and Sunday — it’s easy to find the perfect moment to experience it. Opening night is Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 pm, with additional shows Friday at 7:30 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm.
Ballet lovers can go deeper, too: a Studio Spotlight behind-the-scenes evening with the dancers and artistic team takes place October 9 at 7:00 pm for $30, and free Performance Chats with company dancers happen around select shows. Group experiences are available for parties of 10 or more through the Ballet Arizona box office at 602-381-1096.
Forty years of world-class dance in the Valley of the Sun — and this is just the beginning of the celebration.
