Kronos Quartet Brings 50 Years of Bold String Music to Phoenix This Friday

One of the most celebrated string quartets on the planet is coming to Phoenix this week. The legendary Kronos Quartet takes the stage at the Musical Instrument Museum’s Music Theater on Friday, October 9, 2026, for two performances — 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

For half a century, the San Francisco-based ensemble has turned the classical string quartet into a living, breathing art form that speaks to the world we live in. The current lineup — violinists David Harrington and Gabriela Díaz, violist Ayane Kozasa, and cellist Paul Wiancko — carries that fearless spirit forward.

The quartet’s résumé is nothing short of remarkable: thousands of concerts around the globe, more than 70 recordings, collaborations with the world’s most accomplished composers and performers, and over 40 of music’s most prestigious honors, including three Grammy Awards, the Polar Music Prize, and the Avery Fisher Prize.

Tickets range from $54.50 to $80.50, and two showtimes make it easy to fit this once-in-a-season evening into your weekend plans. The Musical Instrument Museum’s intimate Music Theater is one of the Valley’s most beloved live-music venues — the perfect room for a group that has, in the words of the New York Times, “broken the boundaries of what string quartets do.”

Don’t miss your chance to experience five decades of musical adventure in a single night, right here in Phoenix.
