Science Gets Spooky (and Silly) at Arizona Science Center’s Annual Skele-bration

Who says science can’t wear a costume? This October, the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix is proving that Halloween has a laboratory lurking behind every pumpkin. The annual Science Skele-bration returns on October 17 and runs October 24 through 31, 2026, inviting families to discover the strange, spirited, and downright silly science hiding inside the spookiest holiday of the year.

Through frightfully fun hands-on activities, young scientists can uncover ancient secrets by mixing up a mummification concoction like the ones Egyptians used to preserve organic matter, or learn the science of chromatography by breaking down the dyes in their favorite colorful candies. It’s proof that curiosity is the best treat of all.

Costumes are encouraged (just leave masks and weapons at home), and every Skele-bration activity is included with general admission to the Science Center. Can’t get enough? The Center also offers free online STEM activities, crafts, and experiments families can try at home, using easy-to-find materials.

Mark the calendar, grab your little ghosts and goblins, and come celebrate a Halloween where the real magic is science. Happy City News loves a holiday that teaches as much as it delights.
