All aboard for a beloved New York holiday tradition: the Holiday Train Show is back at the New York Botanical Garden for its 35th anniversary, running from November 14, 2026, through January 10, 2027 — and tickets are on sale now.
Under the warm glass of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, G-scale model trains wind their way through nearly 200 miniature New York landmarks, each one lovingly crafted entirely from plant materials: palm fronds, pinecones, cinnamon sticks, acorns, twigs, seeds and bark. Steam engines, trolleys and freight trains cross the Brooklyn Bridge, dive through tunnels and even pass the original Penn Station and the first Yankee Stadium.
New this year is a botanical replica of One Vanderbilt, the gleaming skyscraper that is home to the SUMMIT One Vanderbilt observatory — reimagined here in leaves and vines. Outside, a glowing mountainscape on the Conservatory Lawn adds even more trains and picture-perfect winter moments, with extended hours on select dates so everyone gets a chance to visit.
Thirty-five years in, this Bronx tradition still sparks wonder in kids and grown-ups alike — the city’s happiest way to celebrate the season.
