Dallas families have a sky-high adventure waiting downtown. At the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, “Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of Dinosaurs” invites kids and grown-ups to step into the ancient world of the first flying vertebrates — the remarkable reptiles that ruled the skies for more than 150 million years alongside the dinosaurs.
The special exhibition blends hands-on discovery with spectacular science. Life-size models soar overhead, fossils and casts reveal how these creatures took flight, and interactive stations let young paleontologists test the secrets of wings, crests and lightweight bones. A highlight for little engineers is the chance to try piloting a pterosaur in flight, learning how balance, wind and wing shape kept these giants aloft.
Organized with the American Museum of Natural History, the show is a joyful reminder that curiosity takes wing at any age. The Perot, in the heart of Victory Park at 2201 N. Field Street, pairs the exhibition with its permanent halls — from the towering dinosaurs of the T. Boone Pickens Life Then and Now Hall to the hands-on fun of the Moody Family Children’s Museum — making it an easy full day of family exploring.
“Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of Dinosaurs” is on view now through April 26, 2027. Plan your visit, look up, and let your imagination take flight.
