Last Chance in Dallas: Roy Lichtenstein in the Studio Closes October 24 at the Nasher

Dallas has only a few days left to step inside the studio of a Pop Art legend. Roy Lichtenstein in the Studio closes on Saturday, October 24 at the Nasher Sculpture Center, and its final week is a joyful reason to head to the Dallas Arts District.

The Nasher and the Dallas Museum of Art co-present the exhibition from their joint acquisition of more than fifty artworks generously gifted by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation in 2024, in celebration of the artist’s centennial. Prints, drawings, maquettes and sculptures trace how Lichtenstein (1923–1997), a pioneer of Pop Art, turned comic-book characters, drinking glasses, mirrors and even the artist’s own brushstroke into icons of modern art.

At the Nasher, the show gathers works connected to three sculptures in the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection — Head with Blue Shadow, Peace through Chemistry and Double Glass — alongside more than two dozen drawings and maquettes for his celebrated Brushstroke sculptures. Tools and study objects add a delightful behind-the-scenes glimpse of the imagination, play and experimentation at work in his studio.

Find it at 2001 Flora Street through October 24, and make a day of it among the neighboring Arts District museums. It is a bright, first-hand encounter with an artist who changed how the world sees everyday images — catch it before it closes!
