Dallas gets a big, tactile dose of contemporary sculpture this fall. Dallas Contemporary celebrates the opening of Oren Pinhassi: Into Your Arm’s Length with a reception on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at its home at 161 Glass Street in the Design District. Admission is free, with public hours from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Pinhassi sculpts anthropomorphic forms at great scale that appeal to the senses and the intellect at once. His towering or sprawling creatures stand erect, full of bulbous protrusions and suggestive curves, yet they refuse to be fully explicit, choosing instead to communicate in the manner of poetry. Working with ordinary materials such as sand, stone and vinyl, in a process he calls “erotic construction,” the artist uses sensual appeal, rough texture and intimate detail to press against the confines of a restrictive society.
The cavities in the works do double duty: they reference the most intimate cavities of the body while also reading as architectural elements, windows and openings that become landscapes for public exchange. The exhibition was conceived and first shown at The Arts Club of Chicago, curated by Janine Mileaf, and its Dallas arrival gives North Texas audiences a rare chance to walk among these poetic giants in person.
Mark the evening on your calendar, bring a curious friend, and let the sculptures meet you, quite literally, within arm’s length.
