San Antonio Military Families Get a Free Day of Art at the McNay on Veterans Day, November 11

San Antonio is proud of its military families, and on Veterans Day the McNay Art Museum is saying thank you with a whole day of art made for them. Veterans Day at the McNay takes place on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., throughout the museum and its grounds at 6000 N. New Braunfels Avenue.

Admission is free for veterans and active-duty military personnel, for up to five accompanying adult family members — six adults in total per party — and for all accompanying children and teens. It is an invitation to spend the day together, exploring galleries, gardens and creativity as a family.

Docent-led tours will highlight works by veteran artists currently on view, with tours at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., each lasting about 30 to 45 minutes. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., families can drop in for a hands-on art activity inspired by the story and symbolism of the red poppy, and every honored guest receives a commemorative red poppy lapel pin upon admission, while supplies last. Complimentary coffee and infused water will be served during the visit.

The first 50 veterans and active-duty military personnel to attend will also receive a complimentary one-year Dual Family Membership — a gift that keeps the museum open to their families all year long. Proof of military service is required to receive the day’s benefits and discounts. Registration is available through the McNay’s website.
