In a brick barracks building in the Presidio, The Walt Disney Family Museum tells the story of Walt Disney the man – the farm boy who drew cartoons, bet everything on a mouse and built an empire of imagination. Families move through galleries of early drawings, the first Mickey sketches, a working multiplane camera and a breathtaking miniature model of the Disneyland Walt dreamed of.
It’s best for school-age kids and parents together: children chase the animation stations and hands-on film activities while adults get misty at the original benches from Griffith Park, where Walt watched his daughters ride the carousel and dreamed up a park for families. Pure, wholesome movie history.
