San Diego hosts the inaugural Right to Dream Cup this weekend: 200 young players from San Diego FC, Club Tijuana and C.F. Monterrey

This weekend, the future of North American soccer comes together in San Diego. San Diego FC and Right to Dream host the inaugural Right to Dream Cup presented by Dexcom, a two-day international youth tournament taking place October 10 and 11 at the Sharp HealthCare Performance Center.

About 200 young players will compete in the U-13, U-14 and U-16 categories, representing three clubs: San Diego FC, Club Tijuana and C.F. Monterrey. The event marks the first international youth cup ever hosted by Right to Dream San Diego, and it brings together the region’s next generation of talent in a shared competitive and cultural experience.

Beyond the elite competition, the tournament reflects Right to Dream’s holistic philosophy of player development. Young athletes will enjoy a character-development program, a player experience area to connect with peers from the three regions, and even a professional-style media station where they can experience what a real football media environment feels like. The goal, says SDFC Head of Academy Jeff Cook, is for players to leave with more than memories from the field: a broader perspective on what it means to be an athlete, new friendships, and the understanding that their potential extends far beyond the game.

The Right to Dream Cup is part of San Diego FC’s broader commitment to the youth of the region, with the first fully funded residential football academy and school in Major League Soccer. A weekend of great soccer, culture and friendship in San Diego.
