Sea Otter Pup Finn Takes Over San Diego’s Giant IMAX Dome in ‘A Wild Family Adventure’

There is nothing cuter than a baby sea otter learning to swim — and right now, San Diego families can watch that magic unfold bigger than life. Sea Otters: A Wild Family Adventure, the heartwarming new IMAX film from K2 Studios, is playing on San Diego’s only IMAX Giant Dome Theater at the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park — and these are its final weeks: the run ends October 31!

The film follows Bella, a sea otter mother, and her irresistible pup Finn as they brave the harsh winter months along the rugged coast of Vancouver Island. Filmed through a brutal winter by a crew that even camouflaged itself with seaweed to earn the shy otters’ trust, the documentary captures the cutest, cleverest otter behavior ever caught on film — from Finn’s first paddles to the tender mother-and-pup bond that has stolen millions of hearts.

On the Fleet’s 76-foot-tall curved dome screen, you feel like you are floating in the kelp forest right beside them — an experience no living-room screen can match. It is a perfect family outing: playful, beautiful, and full of feel-good ocean wonder.

Swim over to the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park and grab a paw on this otter odyssey before it swims away!
