The Heard Museum invites the entire Phoenix community to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day this Sunday, October 11, with a joyful, all-day program honoring Indigenous traditions, creativity and resilience under this year’s theme, “Imagining Tomorrow Together.”
The celebration’s stage comes alive with world-class performances: breathtaking hoop dancing by Derrick Davis and Cooper Nez alongside Ballet Arizona, the colorful traditional Aztec dance of Grupo Coatlicue, and a graceful harp performance by the talented students of Mesa Public Schools. Adding laughter to the day, comedian and writer Joey Clift joins as a special guest.
Families are in for a treat, too: hands-on, family-friendly art activities run throughout the day, inviting kids and grown-ups to create together and connect with the stories behind the traditions. The entire celebration is included with regular museum admission, so guests can also wander the Heard’s celebrated galleries of American Indian art, history and culture between performances.
It’s the perfect Sunday plan for anyone who loves art, music and community spirit. The Heard Museum is located at 2301 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix and is open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come celebrate, learn and imagine tomorrow together.
