The Dallas Opera Brings Two Family Operas and Free Community Shows This Fall

Opera season in Dallas is for the whole family! The Dallas Opera has just announced a joyful fall 2026 lineup of family-friendly programming, with two delightful family operas and free performances taking the magic of opera out into the community.

First up: The Bremen Town Musicians, a sparkling 35-minute operatic version of the beloved fairy tale, lands at the Winspear Opera House on Saturday, October 17, 2026. With beloved music by Offenbach, Rossini, Donizetti, Sullivan, and Verdi woven into a story of friendship, teamwork, and kindness, it is the perfect first opera for young audiences. Before the curtain goes up, kids can enjoy lobby crafts and the Book Nook, where every child picks out a book to keep — for free.

The adventure continues on the road: The Bremen Town Musicians tours community venues across Dallas from October 24 through December 5 aboard the OperaTruck, the company’s mobile outdoor stage built on the flatbed of an 18-wheel truck, bringing free performances to neighborhoods all over the city.

And back by popular demand after selling out last season: Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince. This charming 50-minute operatic take on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s timeless novella plays November 2–8, 2026, with The Dallas Opera Orchestra, plus student matinees for school groups November 2–6. Follow the Little Prince and his pilot friend on an intergalactic journey about what truly matters in life — a story that delights children and moves grown-ups.

With free community shows, school matinees, and family productions at the Winspear, The Dallas Opera is making sure everyone in Dallas gets a front-row seat to the joy of opera this fall.
