Boston’s Hands-On History Day Brings Family Fun to the Old State House on November 15

Boston families can step right into history on Sunday, November 15, 2026, when Revolutionary Spaces hosts a Hands-On History Day at the Old State House and the Old South Meeting House, two of the most beloved landmarks on the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston.

The day is a modern take on the Children’s Hours held at Old South Meeting House from the late 19th century through the early 20th century, reimagined for today’s young history fans. Visitors of all ages can enjoy themed games, crafts, scavenger hunts, gallery talks, music and more, with activities designed to make the story of the American Revolution easy to explore together.

There is a happy bonus for families: Hands-On History Day activities are included in the price of general admission, and visitors ages 17 and under get in to both the Old State House and the Old South Meeting House for free all day long. That makes November 15 an especially good day for a first visit, or for returning with grandparents and friends.

A second Hands-On History Day follows on Sunday, December 20, 2026, if you cannot make the November date. Revolutionary Spaces notes that dates, times and themes are subject to change, so check its official page before you go and plan a joyful day in historic Boston.
