The cave you loved this summer just got livelier. Arizona Science Center’s immersive CaveScape exhibition is now Hidden Habitats: Life in the Caves, adding live cave-dwelling animals to the tape-cave adventure, on view now through January 3, 2027 in the Sybil B. Harrington Gallery on Level 3.
Get ready to meet some amazing underground neighbors: Egyptian fruit bats, long-tailed chinchillas, a Kimberly rock monitor lizard, a red-tailed green rat snake, tailless whip scorpions, vinegaroons and Chinese cave geckos — each showing how it survives and flourishes in the dark.
The experience itself is pure fun: crawl, climb and slide through a twisting network of tunnels and hidden caves crafted entirely from ordinary packing tape, strong enough for kids and adults. Socks are required in the climbing sections, and the Center even offers free K–12 STEM activity guides tied to the exhibition.
CaveScape was developed by artist Eric Lennartson, with the Hidden Habitats addition by Little Ray’s Exhibitions. Admission is an $8 add-on to general admission, included with Discovery Pass and Member Pass. The Center is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 600 E. Washington St.
