Last Days to See ‘Odilon Redon: Otherworldly Visions’ at the Getty Center

The countdown is on for one of the most dreamlike exhibitions in Los Angeles. “Odilon Redon: Otherworldly Visions,” on view at the Getty Center, closes on October 18, 2026 — art lovers have just a few days left to step inside the visionary world of the French Symbolist master Odilon Redon (1840–1916).

The show gathers charcoals, lithographs and pastels from the Getty’s own collection, including the recent acquisition “La Bataille des Os (The Battle of the Bones),” alongside loans from other institutions. Organized in four chapters — Noir, Lithography, Print Portfolios and Color — it traces how Redon turned dreams, mythology, religion, literature and modern science into unforgettable art.

Redon’s career travels from the mysterious black-and-white “Noirs” to the radiant pastels of his later years, a journey from darkness to light that feels made for the light of Los Angeles. Admission to the Getty Center is always free, and the gardens and sweeping views over the city make the visit even sweeter.
