‘Being Human’: Dallas Students Lead a Free Symposium on Environment and Human Rights, November 14

Dallas students are taking the lead on one of the city’s most thoughtful free events of the season. Being Human: How Our Choices Shape the Environment and Each Other takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and everyone is invited.

The symposium is organized by the Dallas Environmental Commission, the City of Dallas Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability, and the Booker T. Washington Environmental Science Club, with the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum among its presenting partners. That mix says a lot about the idea behind the day: caring for the planet and caring for each other are part of the same conversation.

Visitors can expect a panel discussion with leaders from the presenting organizations, hands-on activities for all ages, and booths hosted by groups including Texas Trees, the Dallas Public Library, Keep Dallas Beautiful and Trinity Park Conservancy. Admission is completely free, and no advance registration is required.

It is a cheerful, practical way to spend a Saturday in the Dallas Arts District: bring the family, meet the students and neighbors working for a greener, kinder city, and leave with simple ideas you can use at home, at school and in your neighborhood.
