McNay Art Museum Brings the Magic of Modern Paris to San Antonio This Fall

Pack your bags for Paris — no passport required! The McNay Art Museum is whisking San Antonio straight to the dawn of the 20th century with Modern Paris: A Century Begins, a dazzling new exhibition opening October 30, 2026, in the Tobin Exhibition Galleries.

More than 50 paintings, prints and sculptures trace the electrifying moment when Paris became the beating heart of the art world. Stroll through works by Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, Georges Braque, Berthe Morisot, Chaïm Soutine, Paul Cézanne and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec — artists who traded ideas, broke the rules and changed visual art forever.

The exhibition also shines a spotlight on the McNay’s own founding story: Marion Koogler McNay, the trailblazing collector whose passion built the museum. Several treasures from her original bequest anchor the show, opening with Alfred Sisley’s luminous The Route from Saint-Germain to Marly.

It is the perfect fall outing — world-class modern art inside one of Texas’ most beautiful museum settings. The exhibition runs through January 24, 2027, and a second fall banner exhibition, Suki Seokyeong Kang: Mountain — Hour — Face, opens the same day for double the discovery.
