The Saint Louis Science Center makes a radical offer: hundreds of hands-on science experiences, and general admission is free. One of the nation’s only free nonprofit science centers, it spreads across two campuses joined by a skybridge over Interstate 64 ā the main building on Oakland Avenue and the iconic James S. McDonnell Planetarium in Forest Park.
Inside the ten galleries: build a bridge over the highway and test it, walk through the science of farming in ‘GROW,’ dig into dinosaurs, catch a film in the five-story OMNIMAX Theater, and look up ā the planetarium’s star shows run daily under one of the most recognizable rooflines in American science, a 1963 hyperboloid by architect Gyo Obata.
It is St. Louis’s laboratory of wonder, and the door is open to everyone.
The Saint Louis Science Center is at 5050 Oakland Avenue. Hours at slsc.org.
