Some museums make kids whisper. The Saint Louis Science Center makes them build, crank, dig and shout ‘again!’ ā and general admission is free, which makes it the easiest yes in St. Louis parenting.
Route the day by energy: engineers first to the bridge-building gallery spanning the Interstate 64 walkway (watch real traffic roll under your feet through the glass floor ports), paleontologists to the dinosaur dig and fossil lab, farmers to the ‘GROW’ gallery’s tractors and greenhouse science, and dreamers up to the McDonnell Planetarium’s star shows across the skybridge. Ten galleries of interactive exhibits mean the second visit is different from the first.
Bring lunch money for the cafeteria or picnic ā either way, plan to stay past the first ‘just one more.’
The Saint Louis Science Center is at 5050 Oakland Avenue. Hours at slsc.org.
