America’s festival of opera in English is set for 2027. Opera Theatre of Saint Louis will run its 2027 Festival Season May 22–June 27, 2027, at the Loretto-Hilton Center in Webster Groves: four mainstage productions spanning musical theatre gold, operatic masterworks and a world premiere.
The season opens with Sondheim’s ‘A Little Night Music,’ continues with Verdi’s ‘La traviata’ and Rossini’s ‘Cinderella (La Cenerentola),’ and crowns with the world premiere of ‘Safe Haven’ by Tobias Picker and Aryeh Lev Stollman. Two one-night concerts complete the festival: the free community concert ‘Our Songs’ (June 3) and ‘Center Stage’ (June 22), the beloved young-artist showcase — all performed with members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, marking 50 years of collaboration between the companies.
Every production is sung in English, in a garden-party festival atmosphere unlike any other in American opera.
