The San Diego Museum of Art is turning its galleries into a stage! Building on the excitement of its centennial year, the Museum has just launched its inaugural “Museum as a Stage” performing arts season — a joyful new initiative that brings music, dance, and storytelling right into the heart of the Museum.
The season was created in partnership with some of San Diego’s most beloved performing arts groups: Camarada, Classics 4 Kids, Opera Neo, San Diego Ballet, and the San Diego Shakespeare Society. Together they will present seven ticketed performances plus three in-gallery pop-up performances free with Museum admission.
The lineup sparkles with variety. San Diego Ballet performs a Día de los Muertos celebration on October 30 and 31, and the San Diego Shakespeare Society follows with “Spooky Shakespeare” on Halloween — free with admission. Families get their own concert from Classics 4 Kids on November 8, and the holidays bring “Let it Snow” with Camarada and San Diego Ballet on December 12. The season continues into 2027 with romantic Shakespeare, ballet inspired by the Asian collection, tango, and a midsummer celebration in June.
The Museum is also reviving its long-running Guest Lecture Series and has announced a brand-new partnership with the San Diego Symphony’s Family Concerts, inviting families to explore San Diego’s cultural institutions together, from the concert hall into the galleries.
