Philadelphia Orchestra Delights Young Families with Children’s Halloween Spectacular

No Halloween is complete without music, and this Saturday, October 10, the Philadelphia Orchestra is turning Marian Anderson Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts into a festive playground of playful tunes and delightfully eerie classics. The Children’s Halloween Spectacular, part of the Orchestra’s 2026-27 Family Discovery Series, begins at 11:30 AM and is designed especially for young listeners and their families.

Former Assistant Conductor Austin Chanu leads a full orchestra through seasonal favorites that sparkle with spooky-season magic. The program includes an excerpt from the Ghostbusters Suite, Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” the thrilling theme from Jaws, selections from Danse macabre, music from Coco, and even “Harry’s Wondrous World” from Harry Potter. With interactive moments, kid-friendly surprises, and plenty of chances to sing, dance, and celebrate, little ones can make magical Halloween memories together with the people they love.

Costumes are encouraged, so young monsters, witches, and superheroes can dress their best. The concert is also a sensory-friendly experience: sensory-friendly kits, noise-canceling headphones, and fidget spinners will be available to make every child feel welcome.

It is a wonderful way to introduce children to the magic of a live orchestra — one hour, no intermission, and full of tricks and treats for the whole family. Tickets are available now at ensembleartsphilly.org.
