Great news from Loch Haven Park: Orlando Science Center has just earned accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), one of the most respected honors in the world of animal care and zoological institutions.
The recognition didn’t come easily. AZA’s Accreditation Commission ran a comprehensive review that included a detailed application and a multi-day on-site inspection by an independent team of zoological professionals. Every aspect of the operation was examined: animal care and wellbeing, veterinary care, staff training, educational programs, conservation efforts, financial stability, risk management, governance and guest services.
The honor spotlights the Life exhibit, where visitors discover the planet’s fragile ecosystems through the eyes of the animals that call them home. The animals living at the Science Center serve as unique ambassadors for its mission, and caring for them is central to everything the team does.
“The AZA accreditation is a great honor for our team and a tremendous endorsement for the Orlando Science Center, particularly our Life exhibit,” said JoAnn Newman, OSC’s President and CEO. “We’re committed to being advocates for conservation education.”
It’s a wonderful reason to plan your next family visit: the same beloved destination now carries the global gold standard in animal care. Congratulations to the whole OSC team!
