Alonzo King LINES Ballet Returns to New Orleans After 15 Years

Get ready for an unforgettable night of world-class dance, New Orleans! On November 14, the New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) presents the celebrated Alonzo King LINES Ballet at the Mahalia Jackson Theater — the company’s first appearance in the Crescent City in 15 years.

Guided since 1982 by the singular artistic vision of choreographer Alonzo King, LINES Ballet is renowned for its sculptural beauty and technical precision, pushing classical ballet to its furthest limits. Critics agree: the San Francisco Chronicle calls King “one of the few bona fide visionaries in the ballet world today,” while The New York Times has praised his “astonishing originality.”

King describes his works as “thought structures” designed to change how we see and feel movement. Each gesture is rooted in impeccable classical line, creating an electric dialogue between the dancers and the music — a performance that is visually stunning, deeply moving, and wholly original.

LINES Ballet has spent 44 years collaborating with noted composers, musicians, and visual artists from around the world, blending Western and Eastern classical traditions at the forefront of ballet innovation. This one-night-only engagement is part of NOBA’s 2026–27 Season of Dance, bringing internationally acclaimed companies to New Orleans audiences.

Tickets are available now through nobadance.com or by calling the NOBA box office at 504-522-0996 ext. 201. Do not miss this rare chance to see one of the most admired dance companies in the world back on a New Orleans stage!
