Nashville, your Predators just pulled off the kind of comeback that makes hockey the best show on ice. Down 2-0 in Montreal on Thursday night, the Preds stormed back with five unanswered goals to beat the Canadiens 5-2 at Bell Centre and earn their first road win of the season.
Things looked bleak after the Canadiens jumped ahead in the second period, but Alexander Kerfoot quieted the building with a late-period goal, and rookie Matthew Wood tied it 2-2 on the power play with just 32 seconds left. Then, with 3:16 to go in the third, Ryan O’Reilly tipped home a Roman Josi blast on the man advantage for the go-ahead goal, and Adam Edstrom added two empty-netters to seal the victory.
Juuse Saros was the hero in net with 32 saves, including a spectacular breakaway stop on Josh Anderson in the third period. Captain Roman Josi and Steven Stamkos each finished with two assists.
The win snapped a five-game losing streak against the Canadiens and pushed the Predators to 2-1-1. The road trip continues Saturday in Ottawa. Let’s go, Preds!
