Country Music Hall of Fame Honors Michael McCall’s Two Decades of Service as He Announces Retirement

Nashville’s most storied museum is taking a happy moment to honor one of its own. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum announced that Michael McCall, its associate director of editorial, will retire at year’s end after more than two decades of service to country music.

McCall’s fingerprints are all over the museum’s recent history: he curated or co-curated more than 20 exhibitions, including the recent Dolly Parton: Journey of a Seeker, and hosted unforgettable onstage interviews with legends like Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn and Hank Williams Jr. He also co-edited the museum’s Encyclopedia of Country Music, a cornerstone reference for fans and scholars alike.

It’s a fitting tribute to a career spent preserving and celebrating the stories behind the songs. The museum’s salute reminds us that country music’s magic lives not only onstage, but in the archivists, curators and storytellers who keep its history alive.

Congratulations, Michael — and thank you for twenty years of happy music history. Visit the museum’s rotating exhibitions this fall at countrymusichalloffame.org.
