Clint Black Takes Center Stage at the Country Music Hall of Fame

A brand-new star is shining in Music City: the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has just opened Clint Black: The Hard Way on Purpose, an exhibition celebrating one of country music’s most authentic voices. The exhibit will be on view through August 2027, giving Nashville visitors plenty of time to experience it.

The show follows Black’s remarkable journey from a Texas ironworker to a country music superstar, tracing the career of an artist who combined blockbuster appeal with a fiercely independent spirit. Along the way, fans will find the treasures that defined his image: the glittering belt buckle he wore onstage during his meteoric rise in 1989, one of his signature custom-made black felt cowboy hats, and the Gibson J-40 guitar custom-built for him in 1990.

Especially moving are the desert camouflage fatigues Black wore during his 1993 USO tour of Somalia, when he brought the sound of home to American troops far away — a reminder that his music has always been about heart and service. His well-traveled Lee Oskar harmonicas, tucked in their custom leather case, complete the portrait of a true musician’s musician.

Admission to the exhibition is included with museum tickets, and it’s free for members — one more reason to make the Hall of Fame a must-see stop on your next Nashville adventure.
