Just in time for Halloween season, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has unveiled The Horror Show, a bold and immersive exhibition celebrating horror cinema’s enormous cultural impact. On view September 26, 2026 through July 25, 2027 in the Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Gallery.
Blurring the line between museum presentation and eerie spectacle, the exhibition takes visitors through “The Hallway” into six themed galleries — Gothic, Psychological, Science, Slasher, Religion and Ghosts — filled with rare props, costumes, production materials and interactive displays from classics like Frankenstein (1931), Halloween (1978), The Shining (1980), Get Out (2017) and Midsommar (2019).
The season also brings special programs: the 2026 Monster Mash on October 24, Museum After Dark on October 31 with a screening of The Craft (1996), and a 50th anniversary screening of Carrie (1976) with Sissy Spacek on November 19. A family-friendly companion exhibition, Zombies!, runs alongside in the Warner Bros. Gallery.
