The dance season at the Detroit Opera House opens with a jolt of Montreal energy. Ballets Jazz Montréal performs on Saturday, October 17, 2026, launching the 26/27 Dance @ Detroit Opera series at the historic Grand Circus Park theater.
For more than five decades, the Canadian company has built an international reputation for performances that bridge classical training with the rhythm, athleticism and emotion of jazz. Its dancers are known for a style that is at once technically precise and joyfully physical — a crowd-pleasing combination that has made the troupe a favorite on stages from Paris to New York.
The season continues with Rennie Harris Puremovement in January, Dance Theatre of Harlem in February and American Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake in May. Tickets for Ballets Jazz Montréal are available at detroitopera.org.
