Dallas is officially in its pumpkin era. Autumn at the Arboretum is back at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, running through November 1, 2026, and the numbers are gloriously over the top: more than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, plus over 150,000 autumn plants including chrysanthemums, echinacea, copper plants and ornamental grasses.
At the heart of it all is the famous Pumpkin Village in the Pecan Grove, this year presented by Tom Thumb. Four walk-through houses are built almost entirely of pumpkins, surrounded by mosaic scenes that feel straight out of a storybook. It is one of the most photographed fall scenes in Texas and perfect family content: kids can wander the paths, hunt for the perfect pumpkin photo and soak up the color at every turn.
The Tom Thumb Pumpkin Patch adds a hands-on twist: visitors can pick their own pumpkin to take home, turning a garden stroll into a keepsake. Autumn at the Arboretum also anchors the garden’s fall calendar with seasonal tastings, the A Tasteful Place programming and family activities throughout October.
The Arboretum sits on 66 acres along White Rock Lake, and fall is arguably its prettiest season. Happy City News tip for Dallas families: go on a weekday morning for softer light and smaller crowds in Pumpkin Village, and bring a camera — this is the autumn portrait backdrop of the year.
