Big news for everyone who loves Atlanta’s creeks, streams, and rivers: Georgia Aquarium has announced HydroLynk, a brand-new community effort dedicated to caring for the city’s waterways. The Southeast is one of the richest freshwater regions on the planet — home to an extraordinary variety of fish, mussels, and other aquatic wildlife — and HydroLynk will connect Atlantans directly with the water flowing through their own neighborhoods.
Too often, the health of our waterways goes unnoticed as water travels through parks, neighborhoods, and business districts, picking up stormwater runoff and litter along the way. HydroLynk is designed to change that, offering engaging educational opportunities and hands-on ways for the community to make a real difference.
Water stewardship is at the very heart of Georgia Aquarium’s mission. The same science that keeps the Aquarium’s tens of thousands of animals thriving in more than 11 million gallons of water will now help communities across Atlanta build healthier local streams and rivers.
In the months ahead, HydroLynk will begin taking shape across the city, with more chances to learn, volunteer, and celebrate the water that connects us all. Stay tuned — Atlanta’s waterways are about to get a lot of love.
