There is a brand-new reason to head to City Park: the Denver Museum of Nature & Science has unveiled its beautifully renovated Sturm Family Wing, and it is every bit as dazzling as it sounds.
The wing opened to visitors this month after a multi-phase transformation made possible by a $20 million gift from the Sturm Family Foundation — the largest private donation in the museum’s history. It is a gift to the whole city, designed for gathering, learning and pure exploration.
What will you find? A reimagined Sturm Family Plaza with flexible outdoor space for public gatherings, community events and performances; a refreshed Sturm Infinity Lobby with smoother access to the theater and lovely nods to the building’s historic architecture; and the Sturm Infinity Theater itself, transformed back in 2022. The renovation also brings welcome accessibility upgrades, including new ramps, improved elevator service and a new sidewalk connecting surrounding neighborhoods and bus riders straight to the museum.
Best of all, the celebration is just getting started: the museum is launching a yearlong series of programs and events in the new spaces, so every visit can hold a fresh surprise.
At 2001 Colorado Blvd in the heart of City Park, the museum keeps getting better — this wing is part of a bigger renaissance, with the beloved Gems & Minerals Hall being reimagined as the Dea Family Gems & Minerals Hall, opening in 2027.
