Big Texas-sized applause for Lyda Hill! The State Fair of Texas has named the Dallas native and celebrated philanthropist as the recipient of the 2026 Pride of Texas Award, one of the Fair’s most meaningful honors.
The award was presented during the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 State Fair of Texas, held in front of the historic Hall of State at Fair Park, as thousands of fairgoers kicked off 24 days of everything Texan. Established in 2014, the Pride of Texas Award celebrates individuals and organizations who embody the qualities Texans hold dear: resilience, loyalty, generosity, and selflessness.
Hill, a lifelong entrepreneur and member of the Giving Pledge, has dedicated her career and personal wealth to science-driven solutions for global challenges and to strengthening communities across Texas and beyond. Through her philanthropy, she has championed research, education, and nonprofits that make life better for Texans of every generation.
“Lyda has shown us that being a great Texan is about more than success. It is about leaving Texas better than you found it,” said Karissa Condoianis, senior vice president of public relations for the State Fair of Texas, as she announced this year’s recipient.
The 2026 State Fair of Texas runs through October 18 at Fair Park in Dallas, with rides, food, concerts, and free days of Texas-sized fun still ahead.
