BTS’s RM Curates His First Museum Exhibition at SFMOMA, Now Open

Happy City News brings the best vibes from San Francisco, and this one is historic: the first-ever museum exhibition drawn from the personal art collection of RM, the leader of global phenomenon BTS, is now open at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me opened on October 3, 2026, and runs through February 7, 2027, on Floor 7 of the museum. The exhibition marks its only U.S. presentation, so San Francisco is the one and only place in the country where visitors can experience it.

Co-curated by RM himself alongside SFMOMA curators America Castillo and Hyoeun Kim, the show brings together nearly 180 works: about 150 from RM’s own collection and more than 30 from SFMOMA’s holdings. Many pieces from RM’s collection have never been publicly shown in the United States.

The result is a deeply personal journey through Korean modern and contemporary art placed in conversation with the world: masters like Yun Hyong-keun, Chang Ucchin, Kim Yun Shin, Kwon Okyon, Park Rehyun and To Sangbong alongside icons such as Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Yves Klein, Nam June Paik, Donald Judd and Kim Whanki. RM also recorded the audio guide in English and Korean, sharing his own reactions to the works in his handwriting and voice.

Timed tickets are required for the exhibition, so book your visit in advance at sfmoma.org. A global pop star opening the doors of his private collection in San Francisco: this is the kind of moment that makes the city shine.
