Vienna Royal Orchestra Brings “Viva Mozart 270” to Jacobs Music Center on October 19

The music of Mozart is about to fill Jacobs Music Center! On Monday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m., the Vienna Royal Orchestra brings its “Viva Mozart 270” celebration to San Diego, honoring the 270th anniversary of the beloved composer’s birth.

Fresh from a summer performance at New York’s legendary Carnegie Hall, the orchestra arrives in San Diego with a program full of sparkling classics. The evening opens with the joyful overture to Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” and features two of his most beloved concertos: Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major and Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major. The program also includes Haydn’s Piano Concerto No. 11, a thrilling piano arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee,” and conductor Matthew Busse’s own “Idyll for Violin and Orchestra.”

The night’s soloists include pianist Tian Jiang, violinist Patrick Rafter, and special guest pianists Shay Mowbray and Anson Wong.

The two-hour concert (including intermission) is a rare chance to experience world-class Viennese musical tradition right here in San Diego. Tickets range from $27 to $137, and students can snag $10 tickets at the box office starting at 6:00 p.m. with a valid ID.

Get ready for a night of pure classical elegance — Mozart himself would approve!
