Get ready for a truly unforgettable evening aboard San Diego’s most iconic ship. The USS Midway Museum presents “Dear Doc,” a moving night of remembrance where students from San Diego State University bring to life real letters written by WWII servicemen.
The performance takes place Monday, November 16, in the museum’s Hangar Bay. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. SDSU student actors will perform theatrical readings of authentic wartime letters written to Dr. Lauren Post, a beloved SDSU professor who stayed connected with his students serving overseas during the war.
The evening also features live music and singing, a special WWII exhibit, a cash bar and light snacks. The letters come from the WWII Servicemen’s Correspondence Collection, where 5,000 original letters are archived at the SDSU Library. The script was created by SDSU alumnus Jonnie Wilson.
Tickets go on sale October 13 at 11:00 a.m. PT, online only. General admission is $20, and USS Midway Museum members save 20%. Don’t miss this powerful celebration of courage, connection and history in the heart of the Embarcadero.
