Art in the Parks brings a free artisan fair and Alberto Mijangos exhibit to the Japanese Tea Garden

San Antonio’s beloved Japanese Tea Garden is about to bloom with art. On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the San Antonio Parks Foundation presents Art in the Parks, a full day of free cultural programming from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the garden, located at 3853 N St. Mary’s Street.

The centerpiece of the day is a special exhibit celebrating renowned San Antonio artist Alberto Mijangos. Born in Mexico City in 1925 and settled in San Antonio in the 1950s, Mijangos became one of the city’s most influential creative voices, helping connect the art worlds of San Antonio and Mexico through his galleries, teaching and community work. Visitors will be able to experience his art up close, with select pieces available for purchase.

The celebration also includes an Artisan Fair, open to the whole community with free admission all day, featuring a market of local artisans and handcrafted goods. The entire day is part of the Jingu House centennial celebrations: the historic landmark at the heart of the Tea Garden turns 100 years old in 2026, and the San Antonio Parks Foundation is marking the milestone with a season of special events.

Admission is free and parking is free, so bring the family for a day of art, nature and San Antonio heritage among the ponds, bridges and pagodas of one of the city’s most photographed green spaces.
