Philadelphia spent the first half of the year celebrating America’s 250th like only the birthplace of the nation can — and the party is far from over. Visit Philadelphia has rounded up more than ten ways to keep the milestone celebration going all fall and winter, and the lineup is spectacular.
At the Museum of the American Revolution, “The Declaration’s Journey” (through January 3, 2027) traces the history and global influence of the Declaration of Independence from 1776 to today, with rare documents and works of art. The yearlong “52 Weeks of Firsts” continues every Saturday with a free Firstival celebrating Philadelphia-born innovations — upcoming firsts include the First Public Showing of a Motion Picture (October 24), the First Thanksgiving Day Parade (November 7) and Philly Food Firsts (December 26).
Other highlights: “The First Salute” at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History (through April 2027), exploring the 1776 cannon salute that became the first international recognition of the United States; “A Time for Liberty” at Eastern State Penitentiary with programs on the evolving meaning of liberty; and “These Truths” at the American Philosophical Society (through January 3, 2027).
Fall in the birthplace of America has never looked better.
