New Orleans does gallery night better than almost anywhere, and on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Arts District invites everyone to prove it. The ORIGINAL First Saturday Art Walk, the monthly celebration founded by Arts District New Orleans, returns to Julia Street and the surrounding blocks from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with galleries and museums open all day and opening receptions filling the evening.
Julia Street has been the heart of the city’s gallery scene for decades, a walkable row of contemporary art spaces in the historic Warehouse District, just a short stroll from the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Contemporary Arts Center on Camp Street. On Art Walk night, the whole neighborhood turns into an open house: new exhibitions debut, artists and gallery teams welcome visitors in, and the sidewalks hum with neighbors discovering their next favorite painter.
The Art Walk is free, friendly and easy to do your own way. Start at one end of Julia Street, wander gallery to gallery, and let the art set the pace; come early to explore the museums by day, then stay for the receptions as the lights come on. It is one of the happiest recurring dates on the New Orleans arts calendar, and a perfect excuse to meet the people who make the city’s creative scene thrive.
