The National WWII Museum is celebrating a proud chapter of New Orleans history with “Come Back Fighting: USS New Orleans at War,” a special exhibit now on display through February 14, 2027, in the Joe W. and Dorothy D. Brown Foundation Special Exhibit Gallery.
The exhibit follows the legendary heavy cruiser from her prewar commissioning through her remarkable service across the Pacific theater, including Pearl Harbor, Midway, the Solomon Islands, and the Philippines. At its heart are the sailors of the USS New Orleans, honored through moments of both triumph and tragedy.
Named for the Crescent City herself, the USS New Orleans earned a storied reputation in World War II — and the exhibit brings her journey vividly to life for a new generation. Supported by The Toler Foundation, this is a must-see for history lovers, veterans, and families looking for an inspiring day at the Museum.
