Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park: 200 Years of Tennessee History Under One Sky

Right beneath the Tennessee State Capitol stretches one of the most inspiring public parks in the South — a 19-acre open-air timeline of the Volunteer State.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park celebrates 200 years of Tennessee history with a 200-foot granite map of the state you can walk across, a wall of Tennessee history, a carillon of 95 bells, and a World War II memorial. The 1,400-foot Path of Volunteers and fountains that dance with music make every stroll feel like a celebration.

It’s perfect for families with curious kids, school groups, and anyone who loves a park with a story. Locals come for the shade, the views of the Capitol dome, and the free summer concerts and festivals held on the great lawn.

Tip: visit at sunset — the light on the Capitol and the long shadows across the granite map are pure magic for photos.
