Los Angeles’ most beloved family Halloween tradition is back. Boo at the L.A. Zoo returns to the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Griffith Park for two fun-filled weekends, Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, and again on Halloween weekend, Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Six trick-or-treat stations will hand out candy from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. along the route from the Winnick Family Children’s Zoo to Treetop Terrace, so bring your own treat bag and come early, because candy is available while supplies last. At Treetop Terrace, Halloween Headquarters offers games and pumpkin painting, while kids can lose themselves in a new inflatable corn maze, pose at five Halloween-themed photo spots, and meet wandering costume characters at the Children’s Zoo. The Bob Baker Marionette Theater adds live shows on October 31 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The animals join the party, too, with pumpkin enrichment sessions that let families watch residents play with seasonal treats, plus special keeper talks, including a midday spotlight on vultures and condors and why these remarkable birds matter to the environment. Free activities from Give Kids Art on October 24 and the Los Angeles Public Library on October 25 round out the celebration.
Costumes are encouraged, and the whole event is free with paid Zoo admission or an active L.A. Zoo membership. Members at the Family Deluxe level and higher get a head start with a preview morning on October 24 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The Zoo is at 5333 Zoo Drive in Los Angeles, and Happy City News recommends arriving early to enjoy every station.
