Six decades of glamour, entertainment and good luck are now on free display at Caesars Palace. To mark its 60th anniversary, the iconic resort has opened a free, self-guided exhibit celebrating sixty years of Las Vegas history, and it is packed with treasures.
The Museum of Gaming History, an educational project of the Casino Collectibles Association, contributed hundreds of artifacts and memorabilia from its network of more than a thousand casino memorabilia collectors. The pieces tell the story of Caesars Palace through its gaming, entertainment, dining and hotel history, including select items on loan courtesy of the family of founder Jay Sarno.
Among the highlights: a program from the inaugural 1981 Caesars Palace Grand Prix race, ticket stubs from legendary championship boxing matches, a five-piece dice stick from the 1970s and Caesars World stock certificates. Visitors can also explore hundreds of keepsakes representing the resort’s gaming, restaurants and hotel experiences over the years.
And the centerpiece of the anniversary display is the beautifully restored golden Cleopatra figurehead that once adorned the bow of the resort’s beloved Cleopatra’s Barge lounge, back on view in the Appian Way shops after years in storage. The exhibit is free and open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is part of the museum’s broader “Trail of the MoGH,” which brings Las Vegas gaming history to the public at locations all across the city.
