Thousands of Butterflies Fill the Springs Preserve Butterfly Habitat This Fall

One of Las Vegas’s most magical fall traditions is fluttering back to life. The Springs Preserve has opened its seasonal Butterfly Habitat, and through November 23 visitors can wander among hundreds of free-flying butterflies in a lush, flower-filled oasis in the heart of the desert.

Open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the habitat invites guests to witness the fascinating dance between butterflies, the plants that sustain them, and the vital role these pollinators play in the ecosystem. Among the stars of the season are the dazzling blue morpho, a longtime guest favorite, the monarch — known as the “king of butterflies” — along with painted ladies, Gulf fritillaries, zebra longwings and tropical blue waves.

Beyond the sheer beauty, the habitat offers a gentle education in nature: visitors leave with a better understanding of what these spectacular creatures need to survive, and the Springs Preserve even shares tips on butterfly-friendly plants to try at home. Members enjoy early entry beginning at 9:30 a.m., and admission is free for members or included with regular general admission — no reservations required.

A perfect family outing and a reminder that Las Vegas nature blooms in its own colorful way, the Butterfly Habitat is open each fall and spring. Don’t miss it before it closes for the season on November 23.
