Las Vegas has never felt more like New Vegas. The Atomic Museum has unveiled a newly expanded World of Fallout: Prepare for the Future exhibit, and fans can be among the very first to experience it before it officially opens to the public at a special preview event on October 31.
The original exhibit, created in partnership with Bethesda Softworks, celebrates the iconic post-apocalyptic franchise by placing its retro-futuristic world side by side with the real mid-century atomic history that inspired it. Visitors come face to face with screen-worn Vault suits, a Power Armor helmet, Vault Boy memorabilia, and memorabilia from the hit Prime Video series — all woven together with the museum’s rich collection of Cold War artifacts, from a real nuclear propulsion reactor to personal atomic weapons that look strikingly like the games’ Mini-Nukes.
“What makes this exhibit one-of-a-kind is that we’re putting iconic Fallout symbols side by side with the history that inspired them,” said chief community officer and curator Joseph Kent. “It’s a chance for gamers and history buffs alike to see just how closely the two worlds connect.”
The Wasteland spirit doesn’t stop at the gallery doors: Fallout-inspired Easter eggs are hidden throughout the museum’s main exhibits, and on October 23 the museum hosts S.P.E.C.I.A.L Fan Fun Day — dress in Fallout gear for $15 admission, catch a sneak peek of the new exhibit, and enter to win preview-party tickets. The Atomic Museum, open daily at 755 E. Flamingo Rd., explores the real science, history, and culture of the Atomic Age in the city that lived it.
