Downtown Houston is sounding better than ever! Discovery Green has launched Deep in the Heart: A Texas Music Series, a brand-new free weekly concert series celebrating the incredible sounds of the Lone Star State — and every show is free and open to all.
Every Thursday from 7 to 9 pm, the park’s Anheuser-Busch Stage turns into an open-air celebration of Texas music, with the downtown skyline glowing behind the stage. The lineup spans Americana, blues, country, hip-hop, indie, punk rock and Tejano — a joyful showcase of the depth and diversity of Texas artists.
The upcoming nights are packed with talent: October 15 brings Chaparelle with Rodell Duff and DJ Vinyl Ranch; October 22 features 30footFALL with Municipal Bats and DJ Mexican Blackbird; October 29 welcomes David Michael Wyatt with DJ Big Reeks. And on Saturday, November 7, don’t miss Cure for Paranoia — winner of the 2026 NPR Tiny Desk Contest — with Jumprope and DJ Bloom.
Bring a blanket, grab dinner nearby and make it a family night under the stars. Discovery Green asks only that you RSVP so they know you’re coming. Happy City News loves a free, family-friendly celebration — and this one hits every note.
