Día de los Muertos Fills Discovery Green With Color, Music and Remembrance on November 1

Downtown Houston is about to glow with marigolds, music and memory. On Sunday, November 1, from 3 to 7 pm, Discovery Green invites everyone to celebrate Día de los Muertos, the beloved Mexican holiday that honors and remembers loved ones who are no longer with us. Admission is free, and the whole family is welcome at the Sarofim Picnic Lawn.

At the heart of the celebration stands a stunning community ofrenda created by Houston artist Angel Quesada. Visitors are invited to bring a photo or keepsake to add to the altar — a beautiful collective tribute full of color and love. Please bring copies, as originals cannot be guaranteed to be returned.

The afternoon is packed with joy: a Catrin y Catrinas parade and costume contest, traditional performances, live music, crafts, food and local vendors filling the park with flavor and rhythm. The celebration closes with La Musical Ofrenda, a high-energy tribute concert honoring some of Houston’s finest musicians and legendary artists from across Texas.

Día de los Muertos at Discovery Green is a tradition that grows more beautiful every year — a chance to remember, to laugh, to sing and to gather as one community in the heart of the city. Bring your family, bring your memories, and leave with a full heart.
